Cool Car Shot – Robbie’s 2003 Mustang GT

GT1Hey Cool Car Fans,

Yesterday, I had a guy send me photos of his 2003 Mustang GT that he asked me to help him trade on another Mustang that I have on consignment.

The photos were very well done and his 2003 Mustang GT looked extremely clean and in great shape, so I decided to post them here at CoolCarGuy.com for you to check out.

Here’s a run down on the 2003 Mustang GT and this one in particular…

2003 Mustang GT 4.6L 260 hp V8
GT premium package with bullet/mach 1 interior package

GT3Grey leather interior
5-Speed Manual

Overdrive
46k miles
Low jack
Extended transferable warranty
Straight piped exhaust
Lowered 2 inches
Mach 1000 audio system with factory amps and 2 10 inch subs that came from the factory
Custom billet grille

If you’re interested in checking out this vehicle let me know and I’ll track Robbie down and see what he wants for it.

GT2

This could be a great vehicle for someone who is looking for a great Mustang without having to pay a fortune for a new one or the older 1960’s body style.

It’s well equipped and the price range on these varies dramatically depending on condition and features.  In this case, he has a killer sound system built into the trunk of the vehicle.  You can see it in the photo below, so that’s one less expense you’ll have to spend on tricking this vehicle out.

The Mustang also gets pretty good gas mileage for the amount of horsepower that it’s pushing.   You should expect around 18 in the city and 24 – 26 on the highway.  It’s hard to find that kind of fuel economy in a

GT4

performance vehicle, but this 4.6l V8 delivers pretty good gas mileage for the amount of power under the hood.  It looks great too!

You can always reach me using the Contact link on the top right hand side of this page.

Cool Car Shots – 2006 Ford Mustang GT | 2009 Subaru Legacy GT

Hey Cool Car Fans,

2009LegacyGT2A couple who are clients of mine, Mike & Debbie Walker sent me a double shot photo of their vehicles that I helped them purchase, along with a few additional photos of Debbie’s 2009 Subaru Legacy GT Limited.

Actually, it’s a pretty funny story how I met Mike and Debbie to help them get their vehicles.

Mike Walker had contacted me early last year about a 2005 Pontiac GTO that I had on consignment.  It was a midnight blue color with black leather interior and a pretty sweet ride with plenty of power.  You can see photos of it here at CoolCarGuy.com, if you search on the keyword Pontiac.  It was a very cool car with 400hp and a 6.0l engine that could light up the pavement and was super fun to drive.  It ended up going to another client of mine from Europe, but that’s another story.

2009LegacyGT1

He came over and took the GTO for a drive and it reminded him a little too much of the Pontiac G6, instead of the classic GTO because of the body style. Mike was looking for something with that older muscle car flare like you find with the new body style Mustang, Challenger, Charger and the all new Camaro.  If there was one mistake that Pontiac made when they brought back the GTO that was it, they didn’t go Retro, but it doesn’t matter now that Pontiac is a classic car company under the new GM.

After driving a few vehicles, Mike decided that he wanted me to go after a 2006, Ford Mustang GT coupe with 300hp as his new ride. I tracked one down for him and you can see it in the picture above.  I got it for him through the Dealer Auctions that I have access to through hanging my license at a car dealership instead of being a vehicle Buyer’s Agent like some of the guy’s are around town and it was exactly what he wanted.  In fact, it was like special ordering a used car that I’ve done for many people over the years.

That was not the end of the story though for Mike and Debbie.  Mike went home and told his wife that he had purchased a vehicle from some guy who called himself The Cool Car Guy, a John Boyd, and  Debbie said, “I went to High School in Hudson, WI with a guy named John Boyd, what did he look like?”  Apparently, I fit the description.

I turned out to be the same guy Debbie went to High School with about 1,000 miles away from Denver and we had both moved to this part of Colorado years ago.  Fast forward and Debbie and I ended up being friends on Facebook earlier this year.  If you’re not on Facebook, it’s a pretty cool free service that another client had turned me onto using.  I didn’t realize that I had sold her husband their Mustang!  How funny is that?  She wrote on my wall that I had helped her husband and she wanted to trade her Subaru, so I helped Debbie get a 2009 Subaru Legacy GT that she now loves.

The vehicles look pretty darn cool together and I asked her to send me some photos of them, which she did.  They are now here for you to take a look at and enjoy.  Obviously, Debbie sent the photos since there are more photos of her vehicle than Mike’s.

Two great cars that go great together!  These are two super cool cars that go great together.  It almost sounds like a Reece’s peanut butter cup or Double Mint gum commercial because they look like they match other than one being American and the other Japanese.

Super Cool.

The Cool Car Guy Show – June 26th, 2009

StarbucksHey Cool Car Fans,

Hoss and I were at the Starbucks last Friday in Castle Rock and we recorded a live version of The Cool Car Guy Show. It’s a pretty good show. Hoss is an awesome co-host and I couldn’t do this show without himor you would be bored out of your mind just listening to me talk automotive news for 40 minutes. I actually downloaded it and listened to it on my iPod this week while I was out on a run. My wife thought that was kind of weird, but I needed to see if it was any good and it’s pretty cool.

I hope to catch Hoss tomorrow and see if we can record tomorrow’s show in the morning. I’m helping out with TheRock.org for the Day Camp with the kids and all week I’ve been doing kid’s events. Today, I was at WaterWorld and it was freezing with the weather, but we all had a good time with 170 wet elementary kids.

BMW M5

Tomorrow I’ll be driving the church van to Boondocks up off of 120th in the afternoon, along with three school buses descending on that amusement park.  Then tomorrow night we’re ending up in Monument with all the teenagers and adults to play broomball until Midnight and I’m the designated bus driver for the group, so that should be a good time. All in a day’s work for The Cool Car Guy.

On this episode we talked about a comparison out of MotorTrend Magazine between the BMW M5 and the Cadillac CTS-V and it made for an interesting way to start the program. We also talked about some of my stories from real life as The Cool Car Guy and my take on buying used cars. We also mentioned the upcoming Classic Car Show in Castle Pines Village on Saturday, July 11th from 3PM – 6PM that some of you in the area might want to check out.

The show is about 40 minutes long again and it’s pretty entertaining and informative. We try to have a good time doing the show and hopefully it comes through that we enjoy doing it.  If you need assistance getting a vehicle be sure and drop me an email or give me a call.

Cadillac CTS-VWe’re going to be creating the show on different days of the week at unique locations, but it was pretty fun at Starbucks since that place is a money machine with a constant flow of traffic, so you’re going to want to follow The Cool Car Guy on Twitter@coolcarguy or both Hoss and I on Facebook (Cool Car Guy) to find out where we’ll be on any given day. Tomorrow we’ll be at a Starbucks again, but I’m not sure if we’ll be in Castle Rock because I’m running with some buddies at 6:45AM tomorrow morning and it’s going to be a long day!

By the way, I got my wife Becky an Infiniti FX35 and I need to get some photos up here for people to check it out. I also got my Subaru with some new lettering on it and it seems to be pretty happy. I’ll try to get some updated photos up one of these days when my life slows down.

The Cool Car Guy Cancels His Trip To Steamboat Springs Marathon

Hey Cool Car Fans,

Steamboat MarathonAs many of you who follow me on Twitter, Facebook and Goblin Network know I’ve been training for the Steamboat Springs Marathon that is this coming Sunday.  Unfortunately, last week after four days in a row of long runs, I came down with a serious case of bronchitis that had me laid up at home and in bed for a week.  I’m still struggling with this junk as I write this, so I won’t be able to run it now.

It’s a very humbling experience when you get ill.  I have clients who have battled cancer and some who are battling that disease right now.  My heart goes out to them and running in races is one way that you can help support charities that are in the fight against diseases like cancer.

It’s amazing how much you appreciate your health when you don’t have it.  I also believe that God sometimes allows sickness to strike us down to deal with our own self-love, to remind us of our frailty as human beings and to not get so caught-up in ourselves that we forget about others.  This isn’t always the case obviously since we live in a fallen world, but for Christians I think it is often true, since once you become a Christian nothing in your life comes to you without first passing through Divine Providence.  Maybe it’s just me, but I get very introspective when I’m sick and I think that’s the case for most people.  You really appreciate your health!

I was talking with a friend and she told me about how a friend of hers had gone on vacation to Hawaii and while he was there he got what he thought was a cold, it turned into pneumonia and he died.  A reminder that your life can be taken from you at any moment and don’t test your body even if you think you can.

I recognize that writing about this on CoolCarGuy.com is not probably what many first time visitors would expect, but I try to be real with people in my business as well as my personal life.  Too much of our world today are sound bites or if you’re an active follower of Twitter and other social sites, much of what people say today is non-stop promotion without any reality attached.  In the end, none of those things matter.  I have yet to see a U-haul following a hearse to the cemetery.

A friend of mine told me yesterday about how his father had left his brother an original 1968 Shelby that has only 60,000 original miles on it.  He told me that he was offered $180,000 for the vehicle from a man of means, who wanted to put it in his collection, but his brother turned him down.  He raised the offer to $200,000 and his brother still turned him down.  He said, “My Dad and my brother bought that car together and it’s one of the only memories that he has left of my Dad, so I don’t think he’s interested in selling it.”  Obviously not, but it drives home the point that there are some things in life that cannot be replaced.  In this case, the car is not a commodity that can be bought with a price tag, but a memory tied to an experience.  I thought that was pretty cool.

Life is short and we should enjoy the time that we have and not forget the millions of people in this world who are suffering. Missing this marathon is not the end of the world and I enjoy running, so I hope to be back out hitting the pavement again soon.  I’m considering the Denver Marathon later this year and this race supports a number of great charities.  I also may run the Georgetown Half-Marathon on August 8th, which I’ve ran several times before.  That’s a really fun run, if you’re thinking of getting into running consider that run as a good challenge.

Enjoy the weekend!  If you need assistance with buying, selling, trading or leasing a vehicle feel free to give me a call and I’ll make the time to help you out.

The Cool Car Guy Show – May 15th, 2009

FishCity GrillHey Cool Car Fans,

Last Friday, Hoss and I met for lunch at Fish City Grill at Park Meadows Mall and recorded The Cool Car Guy Show.

We talked about a number of issues, including Chrysler closing 789 dealerships with 12 closing in Colorado. We also talked to some interesting people while we were there and saw some very cool cars, such as a red hot Mercedes 4Matic and a Pink classic Ford Thunderbird.

We’re going to be creating the show on different days of the week at unique locations, like LODO’s, Starbucks, Fish City Grill and other locals, so you’re going to want to follow The Cool Car Guy on Twitter@coolcarguy or both Hoss and I on Facebook to find out where we’ll be on any given day. You never know where we might show up and at what time because our schedules are nuts!

Pink ThunderbirdToday, I’m off to deliver a 2007 Infiniti FX35 that I purchased yesterday at the Colorado Auction for a client with just 21,000 miles in mint condition, in a unique beryllium exterior color with a very cool “baseball glove” leather interior. It has navigation and is hard loaded, complete with the Infiniti “smart keys” for accessing the vehicle.

There are some crazy things happening in the automotive industry right now from government regulations since the Obama Administration decided to partner with Chrysler and GM to Kelly Blue Book and the NADA being completely out of whack with the marketplace.

Be sure and tune into The Cool Car Guy Show as Hoss and I discuss changes in the automotive industry. We’ve been goofing around quite a bit with the show, but we’re going to get a little better organized and start bringing you details on what’s happening in the very fluid automotive industry.

I will be back with a new podcast for The Cool Car Guy Show with Hoss this week sometime, so stay tuned.

If you’re thinking of calling me for a vehicle, don’t freak out about how busy I am because this is normal for me and that’s why people call me. If I didn’t know what I was doing it would be different, but I do this everyday, working with people to track down every make, model and price range. Give me a call or send me an email.

Cool Car Looking For New Home – 2003 Mercedes-Benz C240 4Matic

Hey Cool Car Fans,

Want to get a great vehicle at a great price!  I have a dealership that I work with looking to sell a 2003 C240 4matic that they have in their inventory.  I had a buyer for it and the young girl’s Dad decided that he didn’t want his daughter in a Mercedes after talking with their mechanic friends who don’t work on Mercedes.  Of course, that should tell you something right there.

Last year, I spent about $75,000 fixing vehicles and Mercedes are some of the most reliable and safest cars on the road.  A new key for this ride was $150, compared to $300 for a Mazda that I had to get a key for recently, so the perception isn’t complete reality.

The fact is that the German’s & European’s make some, if not the best, production cars in the world, Mercede-Benz, BMW, Audi are fantastic performance and luxury vehicles.  The Japanese are constantly chasing the Europeans and not the other way around.  As far as safety, there is no comparison.  If you’re playing bumper cars ever on I70 in the Winter, you’re not going to be thinking about the cost of maintenance, but whether or not you’re going to walk away alive.

This ride is ready to go!  I took it in for a safety inspection and it needs nothing. I’m putting details of it here at CoolCarGuy.com for people to find out about it, so contact me if you are interested in this vehicle.

It has a new set of tires and is in fantastic condition.

2003 Mercedes Benz C-Class

MPG (C/H): 19 MPG/25 MPG

I can get you financed with 40 credit unions and a number of banks to choose from through JFR & Associates. If you are interested and want to see it, call me at 720-771-6269 and I’ll show it to you.

I will get you a deal on this vehicle and save you about $1,000 off of the already discounted price, if you mention this article!

The used car market is going great, so don’t believe the headlines that the auto industry is hurting. New car sales are in the tank, but used car sales are strong in Denver and abroad.

People still have to drive, cars break down and have to be replaced and more people are buying used vehicles right now, but finding them can be a challenge.

Check out NADA for details on this 2003 C class 4Matic.

The Cool Car Guy Show – May 8th, 2009

08MatrixHey Cool Car Fans,

I just posted last week’s Cool Car Guy Show here at CoolCarGuy.com for our visitors to check out.

We’re going to be creating the show on different days of the week at unique locations, like LODO’s, out in front of a Starbucks, so you’re going to want to follow The Cool Car Guy on Twitter @coolcarguy or both Hoss and I on Facebook to find out where we’ll be on any given day because we are very busy and extremely impulsive people, at least I am. You never know where we might show up and at what time because our schedules are nuts!

I have to deliver two vehicles tomorrow, a Toyota RAV4 and a 2008 Toyota Matrix tomorrow.  I’m also looking for an Audi Q7, a Toyota Tundra and a few other vehicles.

All in a day’s work for The Cool Car Guy.

I also still need to put up details on a 2003 Mercedes Benz C240 4Matic that is ready to go for a couple grand back of retail book!

At any rate, I will be back with a new podcast for The Cool Car Guy Show with Hoss soon.

If you’re thinking of calling me for a vehicle, don’t freak out about how busy I am because I’m like this all the time and that’s why people call me. The Cool Car Guy Show – May 5th, 2009

AcuraRDXHey Cool Car Fans,

Hoss and I didn’t make it over to LODO’s today to create The Cool Car Guy Show podcast and I was so busy yesterday and today I didn’t get a chance to put up yesterday’s show until now.

I had to make a trip to the Denver Auto Auction today and bid on a Subaru for a client and I ended up getting a smokin’ deal on a 2008 Ford Escape XLT for them instead. I’ll be delivering it tomorrow afternoon and they are stoked!

09 RAV4I also had to track down a Toyota RAV 4 for another client, check into an Infiniti M35x for another client and try to get an Audi A4 for another client that I pushed to tomorrow. This is in addition to locate a number of other vehicles, including a Saturn VUE, a Jeep Wrangler, a Nissan Altima, meeting a client earlier today on another Nissan Altima, locating a Subaru Impreza and at the end of the day a $130,000 – $180,000 vehicle for a great client of mine who wants me to unload his trade for him as well.

All in a day’s work for The Cool Car Guy Recon 2022: The Mezzo Incident buy and I have other vehicles I need to find besides these, but needless to say I couldn’t find time today for The Cool Car Guy Show podcast. I also got a call this evening about an Acura RDX with about 18,000 miles from a leasing company that needs to unload it this week. I need to get details on it tomorrow morning, so that I can post it up here, unless I have a buyer by then. I’m just throwing some photos up of the Acura RDX, so people can see what that vehicle looks like.

I also still need to put up details on a 2003 Mercedes Benz C240 4Matic that is ready to go for a couple grand back of retail book!

Cool Car Looking For A New Home – 2002 PT Cruiser Limited Edition

2002 PT CruiserHey Cool Car Fans,

I got some flack from Dave Hopwood for calling some of the cars I put up here “cool”, but a cool car is whatever is cool to you.  After all, you’re the one driving it and Dave drives a Ford Explorer with 208,000 miles, so we can’t exactly ask his opinion on what’s cool.

SOLD! buy Threat of Exposure

I had a client contact me last week, she found me through one of the many sources that know about me online, such as Goblin Network, Twitter, Facebook, etc.  She asked me to help a retired gentleman sell his 2002 PT Cruiser Limited Edition The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard video that he hardly drove with just 29,800 miles on it. He can’t drive anymore because of his health, so I am helping him sell his vehicle.  I took it in for a safety inspection and it needs some work that will be done before taking delivery. I’m putting details of it here at CoolCarGuy.com for people to find out about it, so contact me if you are interested in this vehicle.

This vehicle will have a new set of brakes and tires, along with any other work that it needs from having a safety inspection done.  When this vehicle is delivered it will need nothing!  It has leather, is an automatic, has a sunroof, heated seats, stone white with gray interior, plus much more.

2002PTCruiser2I can get you financed with 40 credit unions and a number of banks to choose from through JFR & Associates. If you are interested and want to see it, call me at 720-771-6269 and I’ll get in touch with my client to show it to you.

Ref: Stock number 2002PT

I’m listing it at $7,495 for a quick sale and these are hard to find. If you check AutoTrader, this is the best priced one around, there are only 12 of them available, with the lowest miles and it will without a doubt be in the best condition.

Check out NADA for details on this 2002 PT Cruiser, which at the time of this posting is $8,575 for clean retail.

Colorado Hybrid Tax Credits

Hey Cool Car Fans,

2009 Camry HybridEarlier today, I got an email from one of my sources at a Denver Toyota dealership about the new tax credits on hybrid vehicles.

He said, “Hey John, check out the Colorado Hybrid Tax Credits on Toyota vehicles.  If you know anyone in the market this is a good size rebate courtesy of the grand State of Colorado!  Leased Hybrids are eligible too based on Cap and Residual values.  Call me if you need one for your clients.  See you soon…”

The breakdown is as follows according to his data.  I’ll have to confirm this with the State of Colorado, but it’s pretty impressive for some of Toyota’s more popular Hybrids.  I’m not sure what the availability of these vehicles is, but with gasoline creeping up over $2 a gallon again, since the Stock Market has been picking up again, we’re probably going to see more demand for hybrids in the coming months.

  • 2009 Camry Hybrid – Tax Credit Available = $2,043
  • 2009 Highlander Hybrid – Tax Credit Available = $4,688
  • 2009 Prius Hybrid – Tax Credit Available = $3,110

I’m sure there are some incentives on some other brands.  I’ll report on those as I get additional data, but in the meantime, if you’ve been thinking about a hybrid, the State of Colorado wants to assist you in getting one in your driveway.  Toyota has been leading the way with their hybrid technology and I have a number of clients with these vehicles that love them.

Let me know if you are interested in taking one out for a test drive.
