Cool Car Shots – 2006 Ford Mustang GT | 2009 Subaru Legacy GT

Hey Cool Car Fans,

2009LegacyGT2A couple who are clients of mine, Mike & Debbie Walker sent me a double shot photo of their vehicles that I helped them purchase, along with a few additional photos of Debbie’s 2009 Subaru Legacy GT Limited.

Actually, it’s a pretty funny story how I met Mike and Debbie to help them get their vehicles.

Mike Walker had contacted me early last year about a 2005 Pontiac GTO that I had on consignment.  It was a midnight blue color with black leather interior and a pretty sweet ride with plenty of power.  You can see photos of it here at CoolCarGuy.com, if you search on the keyword Pontiac.  It was a very cool car with 400hp and a 6.0l engine that could light up the pavement and was super fun to drive.  It ended up going to another client of mine from Europe, but that’s another story.

2009LegacyGT1

He came over and took the GTO for a drive and it reminded him a little too much of the Pontiac G6, instead of the classic GTO because of the body style. Mike was looking for something with that older muscle car flare like you find with the new body style Mustang, Challenger, Charger and the all new Camaro.  If there was one mistake that Pontiac made when they brought back the GTO that was it, they didn’t go Retro, but it doesn’t matter now that Pontiac is a classic car company under the new GM.

After driving a few vehicles, Mike decided that he wanted me to go after a 2006, Ford Mustang GT coupe with 300hp as his new ride. I tracked one down for him and you can see it in the picture above.  I got it for him through the Dealer Auctions that I have access to through hanging my license at a car dealership instead of being a vehicle Buyer’s Agent like some of the guy’s are around town and it was exactly what he wanted.  In fact, it was like special ordering a used car that I’ve done for many people over the years.

That was not the end of the story though for Mike and Debbie.  Mike went home and told his wife that he had purchased a vehicle from some guy who called himself The Cool Car Guy, a John Boyd, and  Debbie said, “I went to High School in Hudson, WI with a guy named John Boyd, what did he look like?”  Apparently, I fit the description.

I turned out to be the same guy Debbie went to High School with about 1,000 miles away from Denver and we had both moved to this part of Colorado years ago.  Fast forward and Debbie and I ended up being friends on Facebook earlier this year.  If you’re not on Facebook, it’s a pretty cool free service that another client had turned me onto using.  I didn’t realize that I had sold her husband their Mustang!  How funny is that?  She wrote on my wall that I had helped her husband and she wanted to trade her Subaru, so I helped Debbie get a 2009 Subaru Legacy GT that she now loves.

The vehicles look pretty darn cool together and I asked her to send me some photos of them, which she did.  They are now here for you to take a look at and enjoy.  Obviously, Debbie sent the photos since there are more photos of her vehicle than Mike’s.

Two great cars that go great together!  These are two super cool cars that go great together.  It almost sounds like a Reece’s peanut butter cup or Double Mint gum commercial because they look like they match other than one being American and the other Japanese.

Super Cool.

Cool Car Looking For New Home – 2003 Mercedes-Benz C240 4Matic

Hey Cool Car Fans,

Want to get a great vehicle at a great price!  I have a dealership that I work with looking to sell a 2003 C240 4matic that they have in their inventory.  I had a buyer for it and the young girl’s Dad decided that he didn’t want his daughter in a Mercedes after talking with their mechanic friends who don’t work on Mercedes.  Of course, that should tell you something right there.

Last year, I spent about $75,000 fixing vehicles and Mercedes are some of the most reliable and safest cars on the road.  A new key for this ride was $150, compared to $300 for a Mazda that I had to get a key for recently, so the perception isn’t complete reality.

The fact is that the German’s & European’s make some, if not the best, production cars in the world, Mercede-Benz, BMW, Audi are fantastic performance and luxury vehicles.  The Japanese are constantly chasing the Europeans and not the other way around.  As far as safety, there is no comparison.  If you’re playing bumper cars ever on I70 in the Winter, you’re not going to be thinking about the cost of maintenance, but whether or not you’re going to walk away alive.

This ride is ready to go!  I took it in for a safety inspection and it needs nothing. I’m putting details of it here at CoolCarGuy.com for people to find out about it, so contact me if you are interested in this vehicle.

It has a new set of tires and is in fantastic condition.

I will get you a deal on this vehicle and save you about $1,000 off of the already discounted price, if you mention this article!

The used car market is going great, so don’t believe the headlines that the auto industry is hurting. New car sales are in the tank, but used car sales are strong in Denver and abroad.

People still have to drive, cars break down and have to be replaced and more people are buying used vehicles right now, but finding them can be a challenge.

Check out NADA for details on this 2003 C class 4Matic.

Cool Car Guy Heading Back To Denver – 2005 Nissan Frontier XE

cactusHey Cool Car Fans,

I am heading back from Tucson, AZ after a week of being on vacation with my family and seeing some very cool cars down here in the desert.  On the way to the airport, I was cracking up to see a mint condition red Pontiac Fiero.  As we approach the demise of Pontiac by GM’s pathetic management of their company and brands, the old Fiero’s will probably become classic cars as there are so few of them in good condition left. They weren’t built to hold up like the older classics.

ChallengerA woman passed us in a 1967 Ford Mustang in mint condition, that was white with red racing stripes. What a beautiful looking car that was with such pretty lines and fun to drive. It looked like it was just driven off the showroom floor.

While in Tucson we have seen some great vehicles driving down the road, including two new 2009 Dodge Challengers last night at the Frost gelato shoppe last night, one was dressed in white and black with a Hemi and the other was classic orange and black with the SRT/8. Too bad Chrysler is so screwed up right now that they probably won’t be around much longer. At least they brought back the very cool Challenger for 2009 before they go the way of the Gremlin.

1975MGBWe also spotted a very cool 1975 MGB with 27,000 original miles.  My family was embarrassed that I rolled down the window and started talking to the guy about his car.  He said that his wife got it from her parents for turning 30 and it was sitting in their garage in mint condition.  It needed a little work on the engine since it sat so long without being driven, but that’s normal.

As I head back to Denver, I got a call from one of my sources for vehicles this morning and he has a 2005 Nissan Frontier XE with the following spec’s that is going to go pretty fast.  If you’re looking for one of these give me a call because the miles are right and the price is right.  Chain driven truck with great reliablity.

The Cool Car Guy Show – Special Guest Jason Warrick

Castle Rock Radio

Hey Cool Car Fans,

On The Cool Car Guy Show last Thursday on CastleRockRadio.com I had my friend Jason Warrick, who is a big Rally Car and Motocross fan as a special guest on the show.

Jason is a real gear head and has a ministry to the Motocross world of Colorado as a motorcycle rider. He shared with us on the show about how he was first exposed to Rally Car Racing in Europe and witnessed a few events in Ireland and Belgium, which I knew about Ireland being big for Rally, but was surprised to hear about Belgium as well. 2008 Subaru WRX STI

We also talked about how Subaru has changed the body style of the WRX and WRX STI, how Ford has been active in Rally racing, along with Mitsubishi and how the events in Europe require a 2.0 liter engine to participate. In the United States, the 2.5 liter engine can still qualify. We also talked about the late Colin McRae and how Jason had seen him race on several occasions. I also discovered that one of my posts on CoolCarGuy.com needed to be updated with a video from YouTube of Colin’s performance in the 2006 X-Games where he rolled his Subaru and still nearly won the race.

It was great having Jason on the show and if you want to reach him, you can find him by clicking on his name Jason Warrick and send him an email.

Be sure and tune into the show on Monday from 10AM – 11AM MST on CastleRockRadio.com

The Cool Car Guy Delivers A 2008 Subaru Forester

RRCOn our way back from Disney World I got an email from a client of mine that she had referred a friend to me who wanted to purchase a new 2008 Subaru Forester and possibly help her sell a car. As I checked my messages getting off the plane at the Denver International Airport, I had a message from the woman, we will call “Ms. M”, that she was in the market for a 2008 Subaru Forester and needed my assistance.

2008 Subaru Forester 2.5 X Standard Features
* Starting at $21,695
* 173-hp SUBARU BOXER engine
* 166 lb-ft of torque at 4,400 rpm
* 120-watt 7-speaker audio system with subwoofer, 6-disc in-dash CD changer and MP3/WMA player
* SIRIUSâ„¢ Satellite Radio capability
* Perforated leather-wrapped 3-spoke steering wheel
* Silver painted roof rails
* Automatic climate control system

I called her on the 27th and explained to her my services. For those of you who are new to The Cool Car Guy Show on Castle Rock Radio.com or CoolCarGuy.com and you’re maybe wondering what it is that I do, let me explain what I share with most people who look to engage my services.

“As a professional automotive consultant I provide buying, selling and leasing services for a specific clientele of individuals and companies who don’t have the time, or just don’t want to, run around from dealership to dealership or private parties shopping for vehicles. I do this with no upfront financial commitment on their part and I locate these vehicles either through the dealer auctions, private parties, my existing client base, or dealer inventories. My services are offered exclusively on a referral, repeat or relationship basis. I don’t advertise my services to gain new clients, but you can only obtain this service by being referred to me or knowing me personally.”

After explaining The Cool Car Guy services to her she shared with me that she had already spoke with three dealerships in the Denver area and her frustration was growing as she was getting different prices from each of them for the same vehicle. Of course, she also had the classic “call me last and I’ll give you the best price” that so many salespeople will use to get people to come through the door, but ultimately they are not the decision maker since they are an employee of the dealership.

I explained to “Ms. M” that a dealership could beat whatever price I could offer her on a new vehicle, if they really wanted. This is because they control the new vehicle market, but they have overhead, employees, rent and other expenses that I don’t have as an automotive consultant. She could expect to have a different price when she walked through the door and met with her salesperson because someone can say whatever they want over the phone. After she wastes a few hours of her time haggling in their dealership, she will head to the finance department for an explanation of an extended warranty and engage in a presentation of up to five different profit centers presented by several people other than her salesperson before she gets out the door. Just ask yourself why people hate buying cars, if you don’t believe me.

Using my service, it would be like ordering a pizza complete with free delivery. She would tell me what features she wanted on her vehicle, including the color she wanted and I would get her the price before I show up at her home to sign paperwork at her kitchen table and park her new vehicle in her garage. No negotiating or brain damage and I’ll typically be within a few hundred dollars of the best price she would get negotiating for hours in a dealership on her own.

If you like that experience then I’m not your guy, but over 300 people have had The Cool Car Guy experience and you can too.

What was the outcome? On December 27th she engaged my service and on December 28th at 1PM I met her at her home, shoveled the snow out of her driveway to move her Honda Prelude that was stuck in the snow and park it on the street to make room for her new car. She got her black 2008 Subaru Forester Premium X for $200 more than the best price she got over the phone from the local dealership. She never had to leave her home, received service she wouldn’t get anywhere else and took a few of my business cards to tell her friends.

Another happy Cool Car Guy client!

This is just one of hundreds of stories about friends and family members who engage The Cool Car Guy to get their vehicle instead of going through the traditional brain damage that lead to so many people being frustrated with the process of getting a new or used vehicle. I also can provide my service for any type of vehicle and any price range, which means any make, any model, any price and you can work with The Cool Car Guy.

By the way, the client who referred her to me will be getting a free trip to the movies from The Cool Car Guy. So, if you’re a client of mine or a frequent visitor to CoolCarGuy.com or listener to The Cool Car Guy Show refer your friends and family if they are in the market for a different vehicle.

Subaru AWD vs The Competition

Hey Cool Car Fans,

I was talking with a friend of mine the other day at a local Subaru dealership about some of the AWD vehicles on the market today and he was telling me how Subaru’s AWD technology beat out the competition.

Craig started telling me about a video that they had to watch as part of their training about the benefits of Subaru’s AWD system compared to similar vehicles.

I located the training video at Google and it’s about 11 minutes in length, but pretty darn impressive. When I told Craig that I found the video, he said, “No, way. You know John, I actually got to tackle that hill in the vehicles shown on the video.” I thought that was pretty cool, so I asked him if he was in the video and he said, “Come on, I’m not that cool.”.

Check out the video and let me know, if you agree that the Subaru AWD system is pretty impressive in this video.

2006 X-Games Subaru WRX STI Rally Car Racing

Hey Cool Car Fans,McRae

In August of this year, at the 2006 X-Games, world-famous motorcycle champion Travis Pastrana hopped into a $50,000 Subaru WRX STI rally car and beat out rally racing favorite Colin McRae. Colin McRae takes the silver medal and this race is AWESOME!

In case you missed these two superstars battling it out on the track, you’ll want to watch these two videos. Even if you’re not a rally car race fan, you should watch these two short videos. They’re definitely worth it! Just click on each of the two graphics and watch the videos over at YouTube.

PastranaI was talking with a buddy of mine at the office who watched the race as well, and he and I agreed that as exciting as this race was, we would like to see rally car racing have both vehicles go at the same time. It would be more like NASCAR or MotorCross meets rally racing. Nevertheless, this race was extremely fun to watch.

Check out the videos and let me know, if you agree that this was a very cool race.

What do you think?
